Welcome to the getting started guide. This guide is intended for a technical audience and will outline the minimal steps to get OSCAR EMR up and running on your system. This is helpful for users who want to quickly evaluate some of the core features of the EMR. In order to complete these steps you should have

  1. Familiarity with Linux
  2. Access to the internet
  3. A coffee, and 30 minutes



Choose your own adventure...

OSCAR is packaged in a couple of different ways

1) DEB packages

Choose this option for a QUICK and EASY way to get up and running or upgrade your OSCAR installation. DEB(ian) packages will automate the installation of core dependencies, setup the database, create a basic configuration file, and anything else required in a basic installation. This is a great option for many users.

2) Manual Install

Choose this option if you would like to manually install the required dependencies and components and have fine tuned control over everything. 

3) Building from Source

Choose this option if you'd like to know how to build from source to generate your own WAR for deployment.
